We are hiring a Biosecurity Adviser!

Following a rapid expansion of our Livestock Biosecurity and Disease Outbreak Contingency Planning Service, Livetec Systems is looking for Biosecurity Advisers to help develop and administer the delivery of contingency plans for our clients. 

The role of a Livetec Systems Biosecurity Adviser is to manage a cohort of clients and work with them to create bespoke biosecurity and disease outbreak contingency plans and to help facilitate other bespoke biosecurity related services. 

The successful candidate will need to be, or become, familiar with government response process to livestock disease outbreaks so they can answer questions from clients (in straight forward language), have/gain knowledge of structural and operational farm level biosecurity, understand the requirements of livestock and poultry assurance schemes such as Red Tractor and the Lion Code, and key organisations government and industry organisations (e.g. APHA, DEFRA, OIE, NFU, BFREPA, AHDB). The role also requires farm visits, attendance at meetings or assistance at promotional activities e.g. shows/conferences alongside development of an expanded client base.

Biosecurity Advisor Role & Responsibilities:

  • Undertake client site visits to understand their business and record current operational procedures
  • Provide advice to clients on structural and operational biosecurity around the farm
  • Follow Livetec process to draft bespoke biosecurity and contingency plans in a timely manner and in collaboration with the client
  • Assist with the creation of a wide range of supporting documents to back up the Contingency Planning service
  • Participate in continued learning by keeping up to date with relevant industry publications, webinars and events

Managing Clients:

  • Consult with clients on behalf of Livetec to become the first point of contact for information 
  • Take control of relevant Contingency Planning customer queries and deliver the service within an agreed time, within budget, and to a quality approved by the line manager
  • Maintain regular ongoing contact with customers, especially during Avian Influenza High Risk Periods, in co-ordination with the other team members
  • Participate in marketing events, conferences, talks etc to showcase Livetec Systems services/products

General Duties:

  • Undertake administrative duties to support the Technical Services team
  • Participate in regular Livetec meetings across the business 
  • Assist with other Livetec projects, as needed
  • Participate in relevant CPD and highlight any needs to assist in your role development

Skills Required:

  • Minimum A Level / BTEC / or equivalent experience, preferably degree level in an Agriculture or associated discipline 
  • Knowledge of farming and the poultry industry 
  • I.T. skills: Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 particularly Teams, Word, and Excel, as well as a general ability to use image and graphics software would also be preferred
  • Organisational skills: Scheduling workload, managing activities
  • Strong customer service skills: Ability to develop relationships with our client base and communicate clearly with clients
  • Team working: Collaborative approach to working with the Livetec team
  • Positive attitude to learning new skills and improving work practice and product developments within Livetec
  • Full UK driving licence
